I ask the County quickly present an offer which recognizes the extraordinary increases in the cost of living the the Portland market area, especially the cost of housing. This is the most expensive area of Oregon in which to live and eat and all Multnomah County employees deserve increases in pay which will allow everyone to at least keep pace with the rising costs -- if not actually have enough additional income to increase their standard of living. The booming economy should provide the additional revenues to the county to allow it provide pay increases to Local 88 members and maintain existing health care benefits.

Dear Commissioners & Chair,
Please direct Labor Relations and the Management bargaining team to come prepared to meetings and work to resolve this negotiation. Show your employees the respect you espouse in public as we are not seeing it behind the bargaining door.

These negotiations are going to slowly, if the county won't give us what we want/need....then maybe it's time to strike

I’ve been on the bargaining team in the past, and I know they work hard for us members, and they do not ask for pie in the sky. County employees deserve fair wages and the ability to afford housing in this area - tiny COLAs are not enough. Library workers are toward the bottom of the pay scales, and the management proposed health care increases will be especially hard for those who can already barely afford to pay their rent. Multnomah County works because of all the amazing, dedicated employees - be fair in return.

The County works because we do! We want the County to live up to the values it espouses, not this hypocritical treatment we are receiving from management. Please support those who actually do the work of the County and keep this community the great place it is.
