Dear Professor A. Nihat Berker;
Taking the recent applied changes in the extent of the monthly stipend for new commer students in 2015 into consideration which have also encompassed some of the former students who have been engaged in new TÜBITAK projects and also by considering this fact that some of the faculty members have individually decided to increase their old students’ income, we would like to put our request forward revolving around making and implementing a solid law for a uniform and fair stipend for all the students.
As you are definitely aware, any change in the budget value of TÜBITAK projects for funding the students who are assigned to them, depends on a multitude of factors, inter alia, financial issues and inflation are more pronounced. Therefore, applying the aforementioned law only to those projects which have been approved after 2015 seems to be inequitable to a number of students who are currently working on old projects.
It is worthy of note that, the 2015- approved projects were initially proposed and submitted to TÜBITAK officials, based on the efforts and crowning achievements of those former students who are now deprived from their attainments under such a circumstances and this, has spread a sense of frustration among graduate students.
At the mean time, Koç and Bilkent universities have dealt with such a problem and faculty members are allowed to normalize the monthly stipend of students. Hence, we hope the president of university makes a favorable decision regarding our request for modifying the scholarship of all the students equally and uniformly.

The emails I receive from you all show just how widespread this exhaustion is regarding the current stipend policies. I am still pushing behind the scenes to get an audience with the administration because the current silence is not an answer. It is a long process that drains your energy but we have to keep pressing for a fair solution.

SERIOUSLY. Why penalize those of us who started earlier? Makes no sense.
Inflation is killing us. Please adjust the stipends ASAP.
This is so unfair. I work just as hard as the new students but my budget is still stuck in the past. Fix this.
The gap keeps growing and it is really frustrating to handle. Give us the same rate.
Imagine a senior PhD student is being paid less than a newcomer master student! This is what causes frustration.
We need serious response.
