Dear student body of Tallwood High School, it has come to my, and several other students' attention, that there is fault in regards to enforcement of the dress code. I'm sure that many of you have noticed that those who are caught violating the dress code are females, however, quite a number of us have seen male violators go unpunished. In regards to the school dress code, females should not be singled out for their leg wear and tank tops, while the males go relatively unscathed no matter what season or occasion.
This double standard goes against the spirit of equality, fair judgement, disregard of societal norms, and possession of an open mind that is encouraged by teachers and staff. This is especially true for those enrolled in the Global Studies and World Languages Academy who are taught to challenge inequality in every aspect and to "think globally". Even as Americans we pride ourselves on equal treatment under the law, so how, as an institution for the education of America's up andcoming citizens, can such discrimination exist? It is ill to already single out the female sex considering they're treatment in the workplace, unequal pay, and societal prejudice dating centuries.
As such we propose full enforcement of the dress code despite gender, for all men and women are created equal and should be treated as such.
