Wellsboro Area School District has a universal masking requirement as part of their current Health & Safety Plan. At the previous School Board Meeting, this requirement was NOT enforced, thus jeopardizing the health of its attendees. As a public meeting, WASD's School Board is REQUIRED to provide equal access. Due to the public health crisis in our community, failing to enforce a written masking policy is in violation of this requirement. After members of the School Board spoke at the previous meeting about counting the number of speakers physically present at the meeting to determine their policy votes, Zoom can not be considered equal access.
We request that you enforce all masking requirements for the 12/21/2021 WASD School Board Meeting, and for all future meetings while the masking requirement remains in effect.

The lack of enforcement at recent meetings continues to undermine the safety of our community members. I have been documenting these occurrences and will present the findings to the board to ensure they understand the necessity of their own policies.

You are putting the entire co mmunity at risk by your negligence. One of the best characteristics of a PUBLIC education is that it teaches the value of working together as a community. What kind of value are you supporting when you teach kids to ignore the health of their classmates + teachers/staff???
Not everyone can attend meetings because of loved ones that are immunocompromised, etc...Zoom attendance should bee counted. You speak of transparency yet ignore Zoom participants. Please do not eliminate mask requirements. They are an effective tool in combatting COVID.
Please enforce mask use. We are on track to outnumber our hospital space and wear out our hospital staff. Our vaccination rate is low. Our new case rate is high. Our death Rae is high. This will not have a happy ending.
As a physician in the wellsboro community I fully support mask mandates, especially as vaccination rates in adults remain low.
Failing to enforce your current policy makes me have little confidence in our school board. And it makes me wonder if it’s an intimidation tactic. Please show us that is not the case but enforcing masking at Tuesday’s meeting. Thank you.
I am an internal medicine physician, and feel strongly that mask wearing should be enforced.
We all need to protect each other!
