Enfield Council should drop its blanket plan to leave parks unlocked at night

In an era of high anti social behaviour this doesn't make sense

I want to be able to bring my child to the park safe knowing the night before it hasn't been trashed!

Savings will cost a fortune in vandalism!!!

There a items of value located in Parks will Enfield Council guarantee to replace like for like without delay if stolen due to parks being left unlocked

Please keep the parks locked to protect against vandalism, arson

Obviously the friends of the park have no say or are listened to so what do the council see as our role?

It would be a backward step and would probably end up costing more money due to the increase in anti-social behaviour. Perhaps you could try a voluntry scheme where members of the community take resposibility for locking the parks

This would be a very dangerous step, & could have very awful things happening to our beautiful flower beds in Bury lodge Park.

Parks not being locked at night would be a catastrophic misjustice for many reasons but in particular wildlife. It is a known fact that wildfowl are captured and killed at night I open spaces. Prostitition is also a very worrying concern,

Please lock gates at night

We have some of the best parks in London, we must treasure them ad protect them for future generations

The Police constantly urge us to lock our sheds; windows and doors to protect our property and the same advice should apply to our valuable community assets in the parks. The LBE have a duty of care but this ill thought out policy would actually facilitate vandalism and theft and not deter it. Grovelands has recently suffered the loss by arson of two expensive pieces of equipment in the Children’s play area and in the adventure playground, the cost of replacement will exceed Cllr Bond’s alleged savings. Open gates will send out the wrong signal to those wanting to do damage in the park making the job of the policing more difficult in the dark. It will create a security risk to houses that back on to it leaving homes vulnerable. These include the home of a 99-year-old lady living alone who is afraid of intruders coming in over her fence, hardly surprising as 23 of her neighbours have reported incidents of crime from the park. Cllr Bond should re consider this proposal especially with regard to treasured heritage parks like Grovelands and Broomfield.

I have never heard anything more ridiculous than Enfield Council thinking they are going to save money by leaving park gates unlocked!

this so called cost saving measure will actually cost the council more in damage done when the parks are unlocked

The Parks in Enfield are an extremely valuable community asset and should be treated as such; the two recent arson incidents in Grovelands Park shows the current lack of security and this can only increase if gates are unlocked overnight. The Council has a duty of care, particularly to heritage parks like Grovelands and Broomfield and should reconsider this misguided policy.

Following the recent arson attacks in Grovelands park destroying the climbing frame/ slide I am stringly opposed to keeping the parks open at night.

This is so wrong. We're trying to make our local park a nicer space to be in and this will be ruined every night by anti social behaviour

I back on to Oakwood park and do not want to be burgled as was my next door neighbour via the park.
