Enfield Council should drop its blanket plan to leave parks unlocked at night

most vandalism is done in antisocial hours - hate to think what crimes will be committed to the environment and people and wildlife

It is a very shortsighted to leave the parks unattended and will lead to more expense.

Look at the fire vandalism at Grovelands park - what a reckless decision - I know who I won't be voting for in the election.

Park vandalism will only increase if access is made easier. Any deterrent is some deterrent!.

In view of recent damage to the park's playground equipment by vandals, it would obviously not be a good idea to stop locking the gates of Grovelands Park. because the cost of repairing this and future damage would be much more than the small savings that would be made.

Overwhelming response from residents living by Aldersbrook Park want continued locking and not all online to sign this petition.

I would urge the Council to lock the parks at night to protect people and parks.

I object strongly to parks being left unlocked overnight. It will lead to vandalism and destruction of our green spaces which are one of the main attractions in Enfield Borough

I see from the local paper that the children's' playground was vandalised in Grovelands Park. If the parks are open all night there will be more of these incidents surely?

I truly believe that it's false economy keeping the gates unlocked. People work hard to keep our parks beautiful and cafes, children's play areas, toilets, plants etc are in danger of being misused at night. The council will I'm sure pay more in the long run replacing/repairing the parks.

We have some beauttiful parks, but this will only expose them to vandalism, while compromising the safety of residents living nearby.

Let common sense rule and prevent our Grovelands Park from vandalism by closing the gates at nighttime.we do not need intruders and the gates make that harder.

This is a false economy

A truly daft and completely false economy!

Residents and Friends of Parks groups should be properly consulted before any such decision is taken. Unfortunately the council acts first and 'consults' later.

Enfield must assess each park individually. Parks surrounded by homes must not be left open at night. Locking the park is their first line of protection against criminal activity. Police and insurance companies covering these properties will realise the increased risk to these now vunerable homes. Remember these homes are resided in by council tax paying people. They expect the council to operate responsibly and continue to hold their best interests as a priority.

This has totally outraged me. How many vulnerable people will use the parks for shortcuts, and how many people will use the parks as a place to prey on these vulnerable people.

Locking park gates will not solve every problem but vandals will find it even easier to gain access to our precious parks.
