Awarding placements to "obese" Labradors encourages this practice.....These "roll around the ring" dogs would never be able to perform the tasks for which they were bred.....Obesity is a detriment to this, and any, breed.....

I have bred AKC Labradors since 1983. I have competed in the field since before today's hunting tests were an option. Fat rolling back and forth while a Labrador trots around the breed ring, should not be rewarded. Judges must give awards to the dogs that have the structure to work all day hunting...without heaving gulps of air.

I have had five labs over the course of a lifetime. Never have I allowed them to be overweight. Extra weight will endanger their hips and other joints, not to mention their stamina and internal organs. Lean labs make better and healthier working dogs.

Labrador Retrievers must stop showing in inappropriate condition for who they are and the tasks of hunting and working . All labradors should look to not to be asked is that a labrador?, when they are not fat

Fat and short labs is not ok. Not sure how they would do their job and run in the field for hours. To much bone and weight is hard on joints. Not sure how the fat and short labs meet the standard. Its sad to watch them in the ring.

Dog should be at health weights, Not at an obese weight. Labrador are sport dogs that should show a sporting body type.
