Breed Specific Legislation is defined as a law put into place, by a government, to control and regulate certain breeds of dog. The dogs regulated in these laws are classed under many titles; ‘Dangerous/Vicious Dogs’ ‘Dogs with Attitude’ ‘Power Breeds’...... This legislation intends to restrict, ban or euthanize the dogs that have made the list for the health safety and welfare of people and children.

Depending on what country you are in the "Ban List" can differ, currently there are anywhere between 10 and 20+ different breeds on different lists with the easy possibility of new dogs added each year.

We are NOT saying that a legislation should not be in place, we are saying that an unprejudice legislation take its place to control and eveluate ALL breeds of dog dependant on temperament and owners responsibility. Responsible ownership should be at the forefront of legislation and more punishment for mishandling/control of pets should be a priority. Tighter licenses on larger breeds, handling courses with certs, before people are allowed to even look at getting a more "powerful" breed of dog and education in schools on how to approach or when not to approach dogs are all ideas that can be considered.

ALL dogs have the ability to be aggressive, all BSL does is help to kill unfortunate pets that fit a stereotype.

PLEASE IF YOU UNDERSTAND THAT "BREED SPECIFIC" LEGISLATION IS OUTDATED AND BRUTAL THEN HELP FIGHT FOR A BETTER ONE IN ALL COUNTRIES.

I never imagined this would gain so much traction when I started typing this out in my kitchen at three in the morning. It honestly blows my mind that so many people see the inherent cruelty in these laws because it feels like we finally have the momentum to force a real discussion on responsible ownership instead of just blaming the dog for its appearance.

STOP THE BANS. judge the dog not the breed seriously.

laws like this are so outdated. time to move on and focus on irresponsible owners instead of punishing innocent dogs.
