The UK was one of the first countries to start setting up Fracture Liaison Services. They are cost-effective in terms of fractures prevented and health and social costs avoided. Fewer than half the Hospital Trusts in England and Wales have an effective FLS.

Osteoporosis is treatable and fractures preventable so lets work towards better diagnoses, so people can live well.

I work for the Falls prevention service. following a fall or hip fracture many people never return home again. This is a particularly important service

I work in an osteoporosis clinic in west Wales, an area where there is no FLS. Every day, I meet patients who have never had any osteoporosis treatment despite their previous fracture history, who are now living with the pain and disability resulting from multiple vertebral fractures which could have been prevented from happening. Give us a fracture liaison service: It is scandalous that such regional inequalities in access to healthcare exist in a G7 country.

I see the consequence of undetected osteoporosis resulting in painful fractures. So many missed opportunities to screen and prevent fractures

Fracture liaison services make a huge difference to individuals' lives and it shouldn't be a postcode lottery as to whether a person received this vital service.

We have no fracture liaison service in Weston-super-Mare and have an older population

FLS can reduce further fractures in those most at risk, and I agree should be a basic standard of care
