End the postcode lottery for Fracture Liaison Services (FLS)

WE have a patchy FLS as it isn't seen as a commissioning priority. It really isn't fair to patients - esp when we could potentially prevent future fractures / morbidity

Our hospital lost FLS service and this had a huge negative impact on prescribing therapies which can reduce future frature risk for patients, FLS service should be an essential part of preventative medicine.

I have suffered several fractures and the aftercare and advice is so necessary

Expert medical care via FLS should be available to everyone, wherever they live .

I was very lucky to be seen by fracture liaison service ,had a dexa scan and as a result of 5 years of medication, my bones have improved. As a result I have had no further fractures . Not everyone is so lucky and many of my friends having had fractures, received no advice about getting a dexa scan to investigate further and consequently may get further fractures in the future.

I back the ROS for Fracture Liaison Services.

Really supportive. So much evidence that FLS are effective and cost-effective. Time to start addressing inequalities in osteoporosis post-fracture care.

I back the campaign run by the Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS) and the Sunday Express.

We have a service in Ioswich but not Colchester and yet we are the same trust. Seems unfair for patients.

An essential service urgently required.

This service is so important to reduce the burden of this severe disease

An essential initiative that will enhance care and is cost effective.

Part of the staffordshire has no FLS which reflects the inequality within the same county. Clinicians from secondary and primary care are acutely aware and trying their best to bridge this gap. Process involved is laborious and discussions around funding stream has pitched both sides at loggerheads. This situation has been in stalemate for number of years not helped by repeated redsigning of the primary care service provision at national level.

This needs to be activated now!

Secondary prevention of osteoporosis is vital. It will save the nhs money and recourses

Essential that osteoporosis is identified as early as possible in order to treat and hopefully avoid painful and debilitating fractures

FLS has been invaluable in our trust, in ensuring patients with fragility fractures receive timely osteoporosis diagnoses and appropriate treatment to reduce the risk of further fractures.

This is a vital service that will ultimately save lives and improve people’s quality of life.

Huge issue UK wide - we have a 18+ month wait list and people are re-fracturing bones whilst awaiting scan!
