UBC food services have taken advantage of hungry broke students for too long, and it is time to put an end to this. UBC food locations that only takes meal dollars will charge you twice the amount of your purchase if you only have flex on your account --- and as you may know that when you reload your card it automatically goes to flex. I think this is outrageous as we (broke students) are forced to spend twice the amount on already high prices.

Updates

March 22, 2017

The stories coming in about money disappearing from student cards are infuriating. Post your own receipt screenshots on Facebook to show how often this double charging happens. Email the food services administration today to demand a refund policy for these flex dollar traps.

We hit our first major milestone today which proves that students are tired of being exploited by food services. Post the link to your Facebook feed right now to ensure the administration sees that this is a campus wide demand for change.

The food is very overpriced, the food's portions are ridiculously small, and the some of the foods have "mysterious juices" in them which makes them look very not appealing. We are paying so much for this, and this is not the quality of food we should be getting with this price. UBC should be ashamed, taking students money and make the worst food possible.

Many students have to choose between textbooks and food. The university should be trying to help us achieve instead of making it impossible to thrive.
