My husband is a retired Army NCO and is now a Government Employee on Ft. Benning. Along with the Regular Army personnel reductions, there is also a large Government personnel reduction. This will cause a substantial loss to our community and should not happen.

It is apparent that there are hostile forces against our country and this is not the time to downsize our military. This would suggest weakness in our country. We must maintain a strong military in order to defend the US. " An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

I've been raised on the security Ft. Benning offers. We are blessed to have them. I've no problem supporting the strength of this base.

Cutting our Army just encourages our enemies to strike. There is so much waste in the budget that could be cut, but not our defense. We need it.

The news is devastating and I do not agree with it at all. Ft. Benning is the surrounding Columbus and areas FORT.
