I am the grandson of Senator Floyd Hudgins (GA-15), and I am highly displeased with this senseless and irresponsible sequestration of our beloved Fort Benning. My grandfather--Chairman of the Defense and Veterans Affairs Committee--spent twenty-one years in the State Senate, protecting veterans and active duty members, and my grandmother worked as the Civilian Personnel Management Specialist on post, ensuring that soldiers were paid and that civil service professionals knew their jobs. Both of my grandparents ensured the safety of our soldiers and civilians on Fort Benning, and now, it is my turn to do the same. DEFEND THE FORT.

A strong FT Benning is vital to our community and surrounding areas. The city of Columbus is a Military town, filled with active military, retired vets and their dependents. a downsized Benning will stifle the economic growth and development we have begun to see. with threats constantly looming over us from terrorist organizations it is imperative we have a strong front being less than 2 hours from Hartsfield Jackson international airport the largest in the US.

Our elected officials continue on a course that could spell disaster if our military is forced to cut personnel to meet budget constraints. The cost of the freedoms we enjoy in our country is high. It's time Washington looked for ways to control government spending. Any amount of defense budget cuts puts our country at even greater risk at a time when those who seek to destroy us are living among us. In light of the senseless loss of five lives last week in Chattanooga, we're seeing citizen soldiers step up to protect those who serve to protect us. The sacrifices of those who wear the uniform are great, the price is high, and more than worth the cost. Congress says we can't afford to maintain or grow our military forces. I say to Congress - look around - we can't afford not to.

We can not afford another military cut ,we have vets. here that need the support and families that work at the base will lose every thing they have this will cause so many homeless people and no way to support them.
