End Mass Surveillance in Chesterfield County!

STOP FILMING ME

We should not let the government have this kind of power and we should certainly not let a private company have it in addition to that. Come on.

I noticed the new flock cameras that have been placed near our Swift Creek Estates home. I am extremely concerned by the installation of one that is at 1 of 2 entrances into the Matoaca high school/swift creek estates area and think it’s shocking that the county is purposefully collecting this type of information relating to high school children. I do not believe in mass surveillance and find the uses to be questionable. These cameras are being removed all across the country because of the high cost and level of citizen concern . I’d like Chesterfield to cancel the contract. We were fine before them and don’t find this to be an acceptable use of funding.

While I live in Richmond, I often shop in Chesterfield. If I think I'm being surveilled I will probably take my business to other localities. If I know I'm not being surveilled I will bring more of my business away from localities that use these cameras

I oppose Chesterfield County using block or any surveillance in our county. This is bypassing our fourth amendment rights.

Very concerned about my 4th amendment right to privacy and what will come next.

Thank-you for this grassroots effort. I am surprised that no more people have sign yet. Putting the flyers in the gas stations is a good idea, but maybe not enough manpower to keep the gas stations filled with your flyer. I am making copies for my street.

These cameras are an invasion of privacy

Remove flock, it is making everything worse and they leak private data.

The well documented security vulnerabilities and abuses of Flock cameras in many localities should be enough to warrant much more citizen input BEFORE these were put in place. The fact that it was not requested is suspicious and does not inspire confident in the true purpose for these cameras.

I live in Rosemont where the HOA chose to install 4 Flock Safety cameras without discussing the contract as promised at an open meeting. The contract was signed in violation of our own covenants since it was done behind closed doors during the summer when no HOA meetings were held. A third of the residents didn’t want any cameras, some wanted only 2 and the rest didn’t mind installing 4. Again, the board proposed 4 cameras without discussing other options. Half of the neighborhood did not participate in the survey. This was pushed through by a few people who wanted it. No background check. Multiple hit and runs and a burglary happened on Flock Safety watch. It was useless. Every resident now cannot come home or leave the house without the exact time stamp and I feel violated. I would never buy a house in this neighborhood with Flock.

Get the Flock out of Richmond.

No privacy any more, You are watched all the time. It's not for our protection as much as it is Chesterfield county greed.

Particularly during this time, we need to ensure information collected about citizens cannot be used for purposes that go against our civil rights. Enabling mass surveillance is a major stepping stone for authoritarian rule, and overall general discrimination.

This level of surveillance from our local government only breeds distrust and furthers the divide between those in power and their constituents

No constant supervision and data collection. Instead use cameras for red light runners.
