Dear Director of Golf, Andy Montgomery,

We are writing to you as members of Kinsale Golf and Fitness Club with a growing concern about the issue of handicap manipulation in both men's and women's tournaments. As we all know, the integrity of golf is dependent on the fair play of its participants. However, in recent times, it has become evident that a number of members are manipulating their handicaps to gain an unfair advantage in competitive tournaments. Our concerns are backed up by independent software which has found on average that 2-3% of a club's membership actively manipulates their handicap to best position themselves for tournament success. This number is in line with what we believe is happening at our club.

We, therefore, urge you to take action to address this issue and restore the integrity of our club's competitive tournaments. We believe that an engaged and empowered handicap committee and the implementation of handicap management software such as CapPatrol.com will be crucial steps in ensuring that such manipulations do not continue.

It is essential that we maintain the integrity of our club's tournaments and prevent individuals from taking unfair advantages. Handicap manipulation is not only a matter of ensuring fair play but is also a form of theft when tournaments require significant entry fees and offer prize money.

Therefore, we respectfully request that you take action to address this issue. We strongly believe that this will be crucial in restoring the integrity of our club's tournaments, protecting the health of our club's culture, and ensuring that we continue to foster a positive and fair playing environment for all members.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

The Membership of Kinsale Golf & Fitness Club

April 18, 2023

I have spent my whole morning looking at tournament scores and the data is honestly just exhausting to sift through because the patterns are so blatant if you actually bother to look. People at the club keep pulling me aside between holes to whisper about who is sandbagging and it confirms that we are definitely not the only ones losing our minds over this blatant cheating.

Seeing this kind of traction is honestly wild and just proves that a lot of people care about keeping the integrity of our rounds at Kinsale intact. I was not sure if anyone else felt the same frustration about the handicap situation until I started reading the comments and realizing how widespread this actually is.

Finally someone said it. Getting tired of seeing guys post 75s when we all know they cant break 90 on a good day. Fix the system already.

I stopped playing in tourneys here for this exact reason. Its embarrassing for the club to have people gaming the system like this.

About time. Kinsale needs to get real. Use the software and stop letting sandbaggers ruin our club tournaments.

So frustrating. Keep it fair for the people who actually play by the rules.

It is ruining the fun for everyone else. Why pay the entry fees if the winners are just cheating anyway?
