Put a STOP to the sale and production of Foie Gras in Ontario, Canada
Foie gras is the French name meaning "fatty liver". Foie gras is simply the diseased and enlarged liver of a duck or goose, which is produced through force feeding. Unfortunately, Foie gras farms still exist today and force feeding is still very prominent in these farms. The ducks/geese are kept in very tiny cages, they cannot move, spread a single feather, or even budge a muscle. They are then force fed with the use of a metal tube, about 2-3 times a day, which is shoved down its throat by a worker. Through this tube an air pump shoots down about 2 pounds of corn mush into the animal's esophagus.If you imagine a life like this and realize how inhumane it is to let any living creature endure such cruel and brutal pain, please sign this petition NOW! Not only is this cruel and unhealthy for the animal but the consumers of Foie Gras are essentially eating a diseased organ. This is because Foie Gras is a live disease which causes the liver to become abnormally large and full of fat. Secondly, not only would you be eating a diseased organ, but the disease is brought on to the animal's liver on purpose by farms. Overall, the entire concept, production, and eating of Foie Gras is inhumane, unhealthy, cruel, and completely outrageous.
