We have had a nightly dose of very loud fireworks on the Avenues section of York City for weeks. I’m not against fireworks for a few special occasions per year, but this is getting ridiculous.

We enjoy the holidays as much as anyone else but being held hostage night after endless night of ceaseless fireworks noises is just too much for our terrified pets. This abuse has to stop.

My dogs anxiety is going to end up really hurting her. She shakes and pants all night way after they stop. It’s EVERY freaking night!

A few fireworks here and there didn't seem much of a problem. Fireworks every single night into all hours of the night and in densely populated areas is way out of hand, unsafe and impinging on the health and quality of life of folks around us. Those of us still working during the COVID-19 crisis need rest. Those of us not working, don't need more anxiety. Veterans and Trauma survivors deserve peace. With all of the anxiety present in the world right now, we sure don't need to add to it. Why at 2am am I jolted awake, trying to figure out if there's an emergency or if the neighbors needed to blow off some steam by setting of a massive fireworks display? It is for sure time to review the findings of this experiment.

The fireworks need to come to an end. They create problems for wildlife, those that suffer from PTSD, or other medical conditions. Babies and family members can not sleep. And people’s pets, including my own, are absolutely terrified of the noise. There is literally no need for them.

After 30+ years in York City, I can no longer say that I can enjoy my neighborhood or home during the warmer months. Fireworks every night of the week-worse on the weekend-scares the dogs on our street (many reports of dogs running away b/c of fireworks-happens every year), keeps people awake, and prevents us from even enjoying a cool evening breeze. My neighbor has to spend July 4th in the basement with her traumatized dog & I actually tried to go somewhere away from the chaos but that didn't work either. And it continued long after I returned home & past midnight. There is no consideration for your neighbor whatsoever. This is the major flaw in the Legislature's rationalization for making commercial fireworks illegal - they assumed people would follow the law. Instead people do what they want, ruin the summer for those around them and the state rakes in tax $$ on the sale of these munitions. We know what the motivation was underneath it all. I'd bet you all live somewhere where YOU don't have to put up with this illegal activity. I don't think the consequences were "unintended" at all. I just think you didn't care b/c you only wanted the tax revenue. Hundreds and hundreds of complaints which go unaddressed. And that doesn't even count those who don't even call because they know nothing will be done. Why have rules and fines attached if enforcement is totally absent? People in my neighborhood who sit on their porch and shoot fireworks into the street all night, late into the night. The debris and scorch marks are there very clearly the next day. With small children present and a good chance of something hot landing in a neighbor's yard or on a roof. Unacceptable behavior. Whoever thought this was a good idea didn't think about it. The quality of life in York has declined and this is yet another example of the cost, not just the monetary cost, of living where you are at the mercy of those inconsiderate people who also reside here.

Please! For the love of everything holy, please, please revoke the fireworks article! Make them illegal again so those of us who work can get a decent nights sleep, our animals won't suffer, and people have a right to peace.
