I couldn't agree with this more! Students need to be attending school as much as they can! This year especially considering we lost 13 days due to the strike.. it's time for us to take our children and young upcoming generations education seriously... If we don't what makes us think they will?

The kids do not benefit from these PLC days. Complete waste. The teachers should be able to network and bounce their ideas off each other during the MANY Pro D days

I find these early dismisal days very inconvenient & have no idea what benefit they are to the teachers. With 3 weeks short of learning time so far this year, it's a way to make up the shortfall.

Regardless of the strike, these PLC days need to go. The kids already miss too much school between Pro D days and long weekends, holidays, breaks etc etc.
Professional Planning should be done after the students full day of school. It is not the student or parents responsibility to make sure the teacher's are prepared. It should be part of the teachers job to plan & learn new methods - whether they have to stay after school or not.

I'm a grandparent who was pressed into duty last year to do child care and supervision in the middle of the day! I want to see the outcomes of the teacher collaboration. I thought professional collaboration was part of a teachers duty after the children are finished for the day??
