The situation of direct provisions in Ireland is nothing short of a disgrace. Human Rights in Ireland? Not allowing people the dignity to work, to be educated or respected should NOT be accepted. It is brutal and wrong.

Direct Provision is a shameful and inhumane way to treat people. We should show more dignity. A lot of people have suffered in many ways before the reach this shore which they come for a better life and we treat them with inhumane care where we should be offering them a place in our society which is caring and respectful

We need an end to the institutionalised accommodation of asylum seekers in Ireland under the system known as Direct Provision. We are asking for an immediate investigation into Direct Provision and a reform of reception conditions. Reform should recognise the role that supportive reception condition can play in an effective application process and should move asylum seekers towards independent living at the earliest opportunity.

It is an absolute disgrace that people who want to make a new life in this mean, greedy country are being treated as criminals. What about the millions of Irish who have emigrated to the US to make a new life since the 1800s. Or presently, the thousands who are desperately trying to get a green card so they can work legally. They only people making money from this situation are the companies who run and operate these prisons.

It is unacceptable that this State sponsored institutionalised poverty continues to impact some of the most vulnerable people in need of protection in this country. In particular, the devastating impact on children is truly appalling and shameful. I fully support an end to Direct Provision style accommodation and a move towards independent living. In solidarity.

I am disgusted at the system. It degrades people and families as well as abusing children through a lack of home, space, play, privacy etc.

Direct provision is an inhumane way of dealing with men women and children who could contribute to this country in a more meaningful manner. We are no better than Australia in our abuse of vulnerable people - At the very minimum direct provision needs to provide SAFE AND SECURE accomodation for children.
