Rodents multiply very quickly. Enough rodents are given away mis-sexed and even pregnant from pet stores to provide enough of them for us to keep as pets. Often times rodents are surrendered, as they are harder to care for than one might expect. Currently all shelters are full of guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, etc. that are all looking for homes because they were abandoned, yet pet stores continue to breed them. Pet stores sell cages that are way too small for them, and tell their customers to care for them in ways that are not conducie to happiness and health for the animal. Many rodents end up dwelling and suffering with no attention or interaction. Guinea pigs and rats are very smart and social creatures, and feel safest and most comfortable in numbers. They are aware that they are alone and uncared for. Often times people will have pet rodents that live alone in a tiny cage that is hardly maintained. Sign this petition and put an end to commercial rodent breeding, and promote shelter adoptions for those who were previously abandoned.

Everything mentioned in the petition is very true and in this country there are way too many unwanted pets and this has to stop!
