The fishery needs to create a selective fishery using fish traps. The fishery is out of date

We are one off the only country's in the world that allow this kind of netting in a river that's sad and we are supposed to me living out of the most environmently friendly places in the world what a joke

Salmon stocks are dwindling , steelhead stocks are plummeting. Steelhead are sacred and a huge economic engine.
Non-selectively harvesting chum and other salmon is not sustainable and hurts commercial fisherman , recreational fishermen and first Nations fishermen.
Gillnets are the worst offender. Ban them and use other means of fishing which will be good for employment.
This is the hill to die on.

It has been over 30 years of fighting to try to recover Thompson Steelhead. The Province as a whole has a problem. If you want to save this genetic strain of fish then enhancement is the only solution. If not then expect this strain become extinct and fish from another river introduced. To late for any other action.

We are losing an iconic fish and killing all other fish in the river. Figure it out.

A truly spectacular fish! Lots of blame to go around in terms of how the strain of steelhead is so close to extinction today. ALL measures must be taken to preserve this unique strong icon of B.C.'s large Thompson River. It is an irreplaceable treasure of our special environment in southern B.C.

Poor fisheries management by the DFO has been going on for decades. It is time to quit having management studies and take action.

DFO has destroyed this fishery as it has many others. Fish don't come first, pc politics do.
