Please do not allow fishing or netting for Thompson basin Steelhead this year. It would be detrimental to the survival of these magical fish.

I fully support any steps being taken to conserve this stock even if it limits commercial fishing access to other fish.

240 fish? To a river the size of the Thompson? Completely unacceptable. The provincial authorities cannot in good conscience and sound science allow the continued netting of this species. Steelhead are an indicator species(google it) that point towards looming trends of the salmon species(Keystone species, again, google it). If nothing changes dramatic changes to the environment in the vicinity of the Thompson could mean damage at a cost that cannot be measured or quantified.

I really do not think there are sufficient steelhead in the system and Ocean to save this species.

The interior Steelhead must be saved, they are financially worth way more to the communities and the recreational anglers then the commercial fish boats.

Chum egg fishery on the Fraser system is just not sustainable as so many other species are caught as by catch. Mostly Thompson steelhead. A sad way to treat such a precious and privileged resource.
