Emerald Forest Flooding

Proper infrastructure is critical before any expansion of the industrial or commercial areas.

The re-zoning to accomodate a car dealership is inconsistent with everything our city has done regarding neighborhood integrity. The residents are against it.

Dec 04, 2016 We and our neighbors have requested the city on several occasions to address the repeated flooding of our property due to the creek overflowing. But all our petitions have fallen on deaf ears. Despite the clear evidence of recent flooding of our property, the city insisted that there was no problem. One would think the city council would act as the citizens representatives and be interested in preserving the integrity of our established neighborhood. We urge College Station City Council NOT to approve rezoning the Corsair parcel of land from Light Industrial to General Commercial for the Wingate Hotel development. This would make a bad situation worse. We also urge that the creek be routinely maintained to control the current overflow.

PLEASE address the flooding and poor drainage problem along Bee Creek in Emerald Forest. Please do not allow more development. The present infrastructure is not managing the present demand.

My husband, Scott Walterscheid, and I bought our home that backs up to Bee Creek 20 years ago.? We recovered from tens of floods before the creek was redesigned for the flood waters. Within the the last year

I live in Carter's Crossing next door to Emerald Forest. I drive down Appomattox through Emerald Forest to get to 2818. During the last big rain it was impossible to drive down Appomattox due to flooding in front of the park. If this is in fact due to decreased maintenance of Bee Creek, then by all means, maintenance should increase.

This past spring our property flooded terribly, then suddenly receded. It was very evident that there was a blockage causing the unusual flooding, and it broke though with an almost immediate resolution of flooding. The overgrowth is completely unacceptable.

Failure to properly maintain adequate water drainage ways for its citizens is unacceptable. Continuing development without properly planning drainage is unacceptable and the city should be help liable to for homes damaged due to the city's refusal to perform it's duty to it's citizens. I call on our elected officials to stop refusing to correct this situation

I support this petition to clear the Emerald Forest Bee Creek to stop the flooding of homes in our neighborhood. Our house backs up to Bee Creek and during the last 2 floods the water has come dangerously close to our property fence. Appomattox continues to flood near the park, even after the city attempted to resolve the park flooding onto the street causing the street to be impassable at times. I urge the College Station City Council NOT to approve the Corsair parcel of land from Light Industrial to General Commercial.

I am so amazed at the city council that is just ignoring us. Thank goodness my place does not flood but we keep expecting concrete to absorb rain water it will. We do not this development going on right now, until something is done about the flooding now. And the widening of Emerald Drive is nuts. I have seen a lot of people walking with baby strollers and other older folks that enjoy this , but there will be no way to let the other side of EF residents to cross over and walk or go to the pool. STOP THIS MADNESS!!!

Solve the flooding before more development takes place,

I echo all the comments of my other neighbors. This refining is a bad idea - - period.

We do not want big box stores, hotels or car dealerships covering the ground with cement to increase drainage problems. We want to keep the integrity of the neighborhood.

Until the City of College Station can accept responsibility for the poor Bee Creek drainage and the resulting flooding of citizens' properties, it should now allow any development which increases runoff. This is not the same thing as being against all development.
