My name is Edward LeBron Sanford II and I am creating this petition because Emancipation Day needs to be recognized and Celebrated. This day commemorates the freedom of some of our people. St. George’s Caye day is a day that celebrates British recognition and colonialism. Emancipation Day celebrates the freedom of some of our people. Many of our people was held in bondage and worked to build Belize FOR FREE. We need to celebrate this day. Please sign this petition so the government can do something to change this. We can celebrate 10th of September, but we must celebrate the Emancipation of our ancestors.

I support this effort. It should be a national holiday set aside for us to commemorate and celebrate our ancestors
This is a great way forward in the re education of our people to understand, why our Country should remember, and set aside emancipation day .
Tjis day is very much as important as any else, freedom should be celebrated.

Because it's the right thing to do, we as humans celebrate many festivities, why not take out time to reflect on our past misdeeds... A day should be taken out also for the Native American also as they have and still endure hardships...
