Employee Wages- Elimination of Tip Credit - House Bill 7084

This should not even be an option. After years of working in restaurants, this is something that cannot happen to the many hard working men and women in the restaurant service industry!

I have worked with many servers who are supporting families or putting themselves through school to better themselves. Taking away their tips will cause too many restaurants to shut down costing us huge job losses and higher poverty levels.

Please don't stop me from being able to provide for my family

Ridiculous. This will hurt the entire service industry.

Cut the fat of your own salary and your senators and other cronies

Let's be honest. If restaurants are allowed to add a service charge it will go towards their bottom line. The waitstaff will never see that money. Which will cause a lot of qualified waitstaff to leave the industry and our restaurant check to increase. Doesn't make a winning senerio for customers.

For my friend who provides great service and deserves to be tipped well.

There's a reason we don't work minimum wage jobs... you can't afford to live off of that!

Being a native Connecticut American who has lived in Europe (the Netherlands and Germany) I must say that there is no way this attempt to somewhat copy European policy will be good for servers. The employment laws are very different here and most people still tip a small amount. And even if the US adapted European style employment laws nationwide I still wouldn't support this because our system needs to do more to help servers (like pay them minimum wage for hours where they had no tables, provide benefits, training, etc) as opposed to hurt them (take tips away or make all employees share them). That is why service is so much better in the US and it sucks in Europe, there is no individual motivation anymore. I supported myself largely thanks to waiting tables in college and without the tips for my good work/effort I never would have become a server for minimum wage!

This would hurt the industry and the quality of service and many restaurants would never be able to stay in business.

Connecticut has a high cost of living and I would never make it on minimum wage. All of us in the industry rely heavily on our tips.

I am a bartender/server at the 99 restaurant and if this is passed, our restaurant will not financially be able to stay open. I will also leave the state permanently.

I have been a server for almost 10 years. I revel in providing good service. This act would not just be killing moral, but the livelihoods of so many families. The service industry exists for a reason.

Restaurants WILL go out of business. ..no doubt...bad service, no return guests. ..owners will have no choice but to close

This would crush restaurant quality as well, something to consider for those who think this proposal actually has any benefits for any of the players involved.

In no way, shape, or form any duties that a server of bartenders performs at their job is worth minimum wage. Many of us are true professionals in the industry that perfected the skill of serving guests. If anything changes, the true craft of customer service will get lost... The pure knowledge of food and alcohol will be dismissed. This industry is an art that requires skill sets beyond being able to resite an order, please wake up.
