This type of legislation will put restaurants out of business. This attempt to "help" the minimum wage and tipped employees will end up making an large number of them unemployed instead. Tipped employees are now able to make much more than minimum wage with earned tips, eliminating and forcing restaurants to raise prices to cover an increased minimum wage and loss of tip credit will only have a negative effect on the restaurant industry.

Please leave the tip credit in place. Servers can earn a tip if they deserve it. It should not be automatic. If you make this change I will not frequent Connecticut restaurants anymore. I live close enough to the Mass and Rhode Island borders that I can easily take my business out of state if you proceed with this nonsense.

I rely on my tips to pay my bills and LIVE! It's cash in my hand after every shift. It helps pay my bills ON TIME and take care of gas and daily needs. Taking away tips is taking away my ability to continue to live in my apartment and take care of my family. $15 is not nearly enough for what we do! If anything i would leave the restaurant business cause it's just not worth it if I'm making much less. Please don't take away our income. Thank you for your time.

Millwrights in Simsbury! We thrive in a tip environment here. Eliminating tipping would literally slash my livelihood in half! Legislation should do more research before taking money from individuals. And why even talk about it? Reinventing the wheel here? Other state issues should be a larger priority.

Many restaurant employees lice off of their tips and their regular paycheck goes to rent/mortgage, bills etc. Not to mention that not all servers are good at what they do. It's not right people who aren't doing their jobs well should receive the same amount of tips as those who go above and beyond.

Pass this bill and you'll never have to worry about how much to tip again. You'll pay what you would have paid for excellent service, whether you get it or not, and then you'll pay tax on top of that. Businesses will be forced to raise their prices much higher to afford to pay decent workers. The quality of servers and bartenders will plummet because it'll no longer be worth it for the cream of the crop to stay in the restaurant industry. The domino effect from this bill would be incredibly far reaching. Restaurant workers are spenders. Many of them are young and put their money back into the economy every day. On top of that, thousands of people in this industry do it as a second job that allows them to have the money to pay for their kids to go to school, to save up to buy a home, or to be able to lead a better quality of life. Many people would have to move outside CT to find jobs to support themselves and their families which will lead to less people paying state taxes - ultimately defeating the purpose of the bill. Minimum wage workers with no skill would take over the restaurant jobs with no investment in providing good service. Multi-tasking, time management, personal service, anticipating guests needs... those that excel in this industry are truly underrated for the amount of skill they employ on a daily basis. Pass this bill and you can pay more for a burger than ever before, you can have it left at your table by someone in a big hurry because the restaurant can only afford to have one other worker on, and you can get up and get your own ketchup. Good luck with that!

I receive tips, but not a server. I think anyone delivering a service should be able to receive tips.
