This grading system is not fair. U-46 is trying to make it easier and easier to graduate. Kids need to work hard and get percent grades to reflect their work. Colleges use percent grading systems because that's the best way. I can't get a 4.0 because everything is so biased and unfair. Kids who dont care get C's and kids who used to get A's get B'c. Its not fair that the kids who try now have to get B's and C's just so the kids who don't care can get passing grades.

it's hard for a student like me to continue a reputation of a 4.0, due to the grading I have to learn more advanced subjects that I am not ready to learn yet and so I get graded lower than what I know. Making my overall grade look bad.

This grading system while not new to U-46 (was implemented about 3 years ago in elementary schools) has truly disengaged parents and students from caring about grades. It is apparent from attending CAC meetings and comments made from teachers to parents and students that adequate training on the grading system has not been done and while I am truly for innovation and new processes to make our students' learning experience better, it is unfair to 'experiment' with the system by which our children will learn to strive from. The current work places are already seeing a difference in the culture of this generation and by utilizing a grading system by which students are scored the same for either 'getting it' or not, we are only creating a culture by which everyone will forever only do what is expected from them since there is no 'hanging fruit'. it is getting very difficult to instill in our children the values of working hard and being rewarded for doing so. This grading system needs some serious review and staff needs much more training in order for it to be truly effective.
