I’ve lived in El Granada on the Alameda for over 25 years and I oppose the proposed plans for this structure; they do not conform to the existing setbacks and height requirements set out for the neighborhood. The proposed two-story structure is adjacent to two single story homes and its extreme visual height variation relative to the adjacent homes will destroy the visual harmony of the neighborhood. The proposed setback and height of this structure are insensitive to the existing residents and their reasons for purchasing in the neighborhood. Although development in the area may be inevitable, it must not include neglect and disregard of setback, height and design standards set out for our community. As a resident of the neighborhood, I rely on the County and Design Review to conscientiously apply the existing setback and height standards for this structure and all development in the neighborhood to promote visual and community harmony.

The height and mass of this proposed building is disruptively out of scale with its surroundings, and looks to distract from the overall appearance and harmony of the setting. It also significantly invades and compromises the privacy of its immediate neighbor and Development shall be located, sited and designed to carefully fit its environment so that its presence is subordinated to the maximum extent practicable.

Coming from a family in real estate, A real estate appraiser for 40 years myself locally I am continually amazed that America is not equal for all. Our family has never asked for a variance, we would never be given anything we were denied any permit we ever tried to get. If you’re not a contractor don’t bother trying we have never bothered our neighbors. It’s so difficult to live in California the last thing we need is for rich people being given these variances for substandard lots that should not be built on. There is no excuse to allow building on a substandard lot 2500 feet is not a lot. I have seen all over the coast variance being given that are absurd. You could line up thousands of people and none of us would get a variance, we should not. we make the laws, we make the regulations, we protect the community that we love. People come in from outside our area ignore our laws and regulations and the standards of our lots. I have been a real estate appraiser for 40 years and rarely saw anything like this, it should not be allowed. The permit should not be allowed, variance should not be given. What is the point in having a law when it doesn’t count for builders contractors and the rich. I have watched the coast side turn into a garbage dump filled with people that tell me they want sidewalks, bright lights, and they hate fields. why do they move here? I’ve asked that they want to pave in every inch of the coastline. I don’t understand that. What happened to the coastal commission? Why are they building on the coast line? It looks like Detroit the smog will come next. The World War II people protected our towns from greedy overlords as they are dying off everyone else says it’s not my problem I won’t get involved I’m too busy. They all move away in a year anyway It breaks my heart. We are attracting greedy people worldwide. Someone has to protect the coastline. Obviously bribes are involved. They come in to town and buy every 2500 square-foot lot and get

It will end up being a hazard! Out of place. Very bad placement for a building like that. Another small cottage, as its predecessing, neighboring cottages would even be a tight fit. And, a small cottage would be much more suitable than a structure like that. Lot is too small for a building of that structure, and likely even a smaller structure wouldn't be suitable.
