I'm a PhD student at Notre Dame, and, living in the area with my wife and two kids here, I regularly enjoy being able to get out into our area parks. These parks keep South Bend special and not eaten-up by sprawl. Please engage in a a public process as to what to do with these public lands, considering alternatives to a sale. Thanks, Chris

Elbel is a treasure. It is one of the most beautiful natural pieces of property anywhere, and where else are you going to see Sandhill Cranes in this area. As a golf course, it is one of the nicest tracks in the Michiana area. Keep it as a golf course by raise fees a bit, keep a beverage cart running, increase food and beverage prices. In any scenario do not allow this beautiful piece of property to be destroyed with another development.

I personally would like to see Elbel remain a golf course but if that is impossible I will support stopping the city from selling this beautiful property. How many of you have seen the pair of cranes that have taken up residence at the course and seem to be staying there year round? Last spring they had 2 chicks that I saw in the cornfield West of the course.

We have unfilled and unsold subdivision properties. Please, no more subdivisions in this area. An outdoor use for this beautiful spot is desirable.

If South Bend is to attract people to our area - it is necessary to have a good park system. Our parks have suffered from years of limited funding. Elbel is a gem that should NOT be sold. It is too important to the quality of life in our area.

Should not even be a question about it. Anything else would be a travesty. Real environmental initiative by the city would be 10x more effective as PR. There is already enough sprawl.

I support turning the Elbel land into a nature preserve or natural wetland. Research has shown that keeping trees and wetlands in our county is important to the quality of our water and air. It is an investment in the health of the county residents.

Some of us live on mud lake where there's just a handful of houses and lots of trees between us and the park. It's quiet and peaceful and we don't want to possibly gain a bunch of neighbor's or business to disturb that. Also we don't want the nature disturbed and ruined or the wildlife to lose their homes.

With Potato Creek about to become more utilized after the inn is built, this beautiful, quiet, natural place becomes even more valuable in nurturing the health and well-being of the people of South Bend. Please consider alternatives such as a land trust in order to preserve public access to a quiet, remote area right in our backyard. Thank you!
