I hunt in that area and the last thing I want is a hotel in the area with more people and traffic.

This area is a special wildlife area. The golf course has shown to be compatible with that feature. From my personal experience there has been sandhill cranes nesting off of Brush Trail.

We need Elbel as a golf course NOT AS HOUSING DEVELOPMENT OR ANYTHING ELSE. Studebaker is only a par 3 course !! Not a regulation course. City counsel always find money for there projects.

Seems like the City just wants to put all of the Money into Down Town. They also took dollasrs away from Elbel to make it look bad. This is pathetic.

As a new resident in South Bend, and one with children, I feel keenly the lack of open space and parkland in the city. On top of that, many of SB's parks feel dated and underused. I am very interested in the ecological diversity of Elbel, but I also see it as hard to access for many city residents. What SB really needs is an Elbel in, or with easy access to, the city. In any case, there is no doubt that northern Indiana needs to take the preservation of ecological areas more seriously, and yet another subdivision hardly seems what the area really needs to attract talent and keep young people in SB.

What may generate more income, a ice rink for 3 - 4 months or a golf course for 6 - 8 months?

It's time that all golfers rise up and defeat any sale of a public course. Blackthorn was an initial mistake and now they compound the issue by selling another..when will the dumb decisions end?

It is an outrage to me that the sale of this local golf course, is even being considered. What right do elected officials have to do this, without voters approval?

I feel this may be short-sighted and would definitely try to sell other less significant city owned properties and then reassess.

A million dollars is a drop in the bucket in the city budget compared to Elbel's value to the community.
