Going to a rolling consolidation made the Detailed legislative history tables essential. A product that was not oda compliant should have been fixed not abandoned

As a historical and human rights research tool, it is essential to have broad and open access to Ontario's legislative history.

Loss of the tables means much more time piecing together legislative history. Probably impossible for the lay litigant to manage.

For a law librarian, the Detailed Legislative History Tables are an essential legislative research tool. The process of legislative research without them is onerous. Please reinstate despite their not meeting the AODA requirements. I am concerned about the length of time that will go by before this is ready to meet the AODA requirements, as it appears the eLaws team did not consult the stakeholders. I would appreciate more communication from the eLaws team as to how the Tables did not meet the AODA requirements, and what the eLaws team plans as interim and long term solutions.

As a librarian, I have used the Detailed Legislative History Tables - and previously the Table of Public Statutes - many times. They are indispensable for tracking the history of legislation and should be maintained.

As a practicing lawyer who is regularly called upon to review statute law, I often need to review the history of a provision. The Detailed Legislative History Tables were an invaluable resource for understanding the evolution of particular statutory sections and the policies they were intended to implement. Not having access to these tables not only disadvantages those in the legal academy and practicing bar, but it acts to reduce access to justice. Certainly, the information contained in the tables can still be gleaned from other sources. However, such a process takes far more time and requires detailed knowledge of the processes by which laws are passed, amended, consolidated, and repealed. Not everyone has those skills, and members of the public who need to access justice but cannot afford or access trained legal services have suffered a great loss by the discontinuation of the Tables. The e-Laws team's stated goal of replacing the Tables with a system that can be accessed in accordance with the provisions of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 is admirable, but certainly it cannot be in the public's best interest to make the information from them unavailable to everyone until such time as it's available in an accessible form.

It's rather insulting that AODA requirements were met by removing access to all rather than creating access to all.

The legislative tables provide essential content to understand legislative history, which is required to resolve complex legal issues. The tables should be maintained until a suitable alternative is provided.
