I am forced to attend college on eid tomorrow because I am only allowed 2 absences for the entire semester and I am afraid that I might need them for any emergencies in the coming months.

Isn't CUNY a public institution? Why should we not have the day off to celebrate our faith and religion? Why should we have to choose? There are only 2 major Islamic holidays yet we can't get off? While Jewish holidays and christian holidays are always observed, we Muslims who are not the minority by the way, have to decide between education and culture. We want equality and we want it now!

How can so many other religions get the day off when Muslims, which make up a large amount of the population in CUNYs are unable to get one day off? Discrimination is as rampant as ever.

I hope we do have off because if really isn't fair to us. Yes they did put it as a holiday for public schools only but they are not the only students who go to school we go to school too it should be equal. It's not right we get to miss a lot of materials. We have had a lot of days off this month all in saying is we Muslims should have our own days off too. We would appreciate it. Thank you
