Terrible retrograde move. Not VAT on Education when the public sector cannot meet the needs of society.

Education is a necessity. The morals, values and standards in the public system have become so poor over the years that it is completely unsafe and unhealthy to send a child to a public school before age 11. Even the government has recognized that the private education system is by far producing the best grade 6 and CSEC students. Also, the public system benefits significantly from the private system. It looks good because of private lessons. Taxing education is just exploitation. The people cannot afford this. To say that it's the choice of parents is rather dogmatic and ignorant too because even ministers within the Government have shun away from the public system because they simply have no faith in it and they know that they cannot afford to have a child who is not learning but just wasting the younger years of his life. Those in authority need to stop being authoritarians and bullish. They need to recognize what the people are capable of doing and be compassionate to that!

I do not agree for this to be done. It lessens the chances for our children to have an education which will mold and change their lives, and by extension, foster a better Guyana in the future.

I support the withdrawal of the planned 14% VAT on private schools in Guyana. Education is far too important, whether public or private, to discourage students from attending schools.

Education is a very very important part of an growing economy. We don't only need education because we want a good job, we NEED it because we want our people to be better problem solvers, a better teacher, a better parent,we want it so our people can be aware of certain things, we want it because our people can be a better rounded individual mentally, socially, economically and physically, education is also necessary in a country like Guyana because of all these high percentage of soI'm cial issues we have going on in this country high rate of suicide, teenage pregnancies, poverty, crime and robbery and if you take a good look at the above the only solution to those is to educate our children lastly most of all WE NEED EDUCATION SO WE CAN HAVE A BETTER TOMORROW FOR OURSELVES, OUR CHILDREN, THEIR CHILDREN AND THE LIST GOES ON. Since education is so necessary it should not be some random thing that the government should put 14% vat on. Mr. Granger I know you came up the the invalid excuse of children attending private institution are rich and should not have any hard time paying the vat but not all are rich some children attend the private institution because they need special teaching and therefore find the need to take private education and there is another reason why the parents prefer to send their children to the private school it's because some of the government school are in such an unhealthy condition and have inadequate learning facilities. So please to the government and ministry of education stop taxing and start focus on development and open your eyes to see the that putting vat on something like education is way beyond stupidity and selfishness ! You had you're chance give our little ones a chance!
