Should be VAT free.. Education is the key to our future.. We need education in Guyana.. And, these Private institution offers courses that the Public Education System can't offer.. Eg: ABE & ACCA

things are hard enough in Guyana and as such people expects the Government to be compassionate with its people. I am one of the few that understands that in order for our country to develop we need to garner revenue but like others I believe there are so many other ways to raise revenue...I do not believe that those in authority has taken all the factors into consideration when they came up with several of the revenue mechanics. We are a small country with very very small population with small disposable income...the lowest income earner together with the unemployed are greater than the middle and upperclassmen....so who are the people to feel the squeeze..the ideas are great but the implementations are poor...just my humble opinion....

The On line and paper petitions were delivered today to the President and to the Ministers of Education and Finance. More than 14,000 have signed the petition (to date) . Those who signed came from all corners of Guyana, from private and public schools and from the diaspora and indeed beyond. . Our hope is that the 14% VAT tax on private education will now be lifted. If so, it will be an eloquent example of what peaceful, not partisan, non political dissent can achieve. and this with a group of 17 year olds as the catalysts!! Thank you all for your support.

There is too much tax on the lives of Guyanese. The government should show that they care for the people of Guyana and make the adjustments necessary. Taxing quality education that the government is unable to provide is really terrible. The people cannot afford this.
