Every one deserves to be educated whether poor or rich. GUYANA future depends on the youths. Please do not force our youths to involved in the wrong activities because they think they don't have a future because they can't afford an education. Take the vat off.

I hereby provide my support against the taxing of education. I strongly believe that education should be taxed because it will impact the access that people will have to it. How can we hope to develop our country when we do this and make it even more difficult to obtain.

It is highly ludicrous to tax education, when the strenght, wisdom and knowledge of a nation's human capital makes the difference between a developed and impoverished nation. Every student, rich or poor or in-between must access private education (private lessons) if she/he has to be successful at SSEE or CXC. Having VAT on private education is analogous to taxing a child's constitutional right to education.

Not only should it be vat free, a different tax rate should be given to the school and a tax credit to parents and students for fees since these persons bear the burden of providing schools, furniture, teachers and other consumables for the government.

Taxing private education is only feasible if the public education system is a viable alternative. I don't believe this is the case in Guyana.

It's very infair that our govt will purposely make it harder for our citizens to get basic education. It's like there is a plan to take underprivileged Guyanese away from education. When they need it the most

Until the standard of education in GY is of the quality to compete in the global market, private education is a necessity not a luxury.

Get Public School Education to a standard whereby parents don't have to pay for extra lessons. Education should by tax free and not another burden on parents who is going the extra mile to pay for private school education. Many working class parents send their kids to private school not because they can afford it but as a sacrifice and an investment in their future. Please rethink this position.
