Education costs were unaffordable by a lot of lower income families before this law was instituted. It should be a human Right. Tax dollars are to be used in the budget to help better our schools and secure our children some degree of education, not raise the price tag on something that already seems unreachable to too many.

Finance Minister Jordan said parents have a "choice". The freedom to choose is a democratic right that should not be punished with added taxation.

VAT should not be imposed on Education just because the government thinks "parents can afford it".

Why this hatred for Private Schools?

The rich are not the only people who send their children to private schools, so do those people who refuse to subject their kids to a failing public education system. There are those who don't have the opportunity and it is the ministry's responsibility to make sure that public school teachers are paid well, trained well and given proper incentives to stay. An improved public system would encourage everyone to send their children there as opposed to private schools. I feel as though we're being punished because we care.
