Education should be free!!! No vat on education. Some parents are struggling to send their children to school and now vat is been added it would decrease the population of educated people that is less children go to school cause of vat which could even increase the rate of juveline delinquency or crime and also school drop outs

This is an anti development move and puts pressure on poor people to seek the best education for their children in light of poor quality of education and undesirable environment at public schools.

Education should be aligned with the rest of the modern world, wherein it is easily accessible, and governments providing incentives regardless of public or private. The idea of a tax feels like a punitive approach which goes against this idea and will hurt the development of the nation, create exessive burden on the "small man" and put the nation more at risk of going backwards rather that moving it towards alignment with the modern world. This would be a shame and an unfortunate loss of opportunity which is totally unavoidable. I hope this proposal is reconsidered!

VAT on Education will not give us hope for Guyana now. Minister Jordan does owe the public a more structured and properly articulated response to the questions surrounding the imposition of VAT on private education services. Is the rationale no more than if you’re rich you go to a private school, and the remedy no more than, pay it or go to a public school? Surely the Guyanese public, including the students seeking an education, deserve a more educated response than that.

"Education is a necessity,"they are parents,single parents and guardians who are making sacrifices to send their child/children to private schools, because of many reasons.I can testify to the sacrifices made because my child is attending a Private school and myself and husband are making great sacrifices. #facts Education is a necessity# say no to 14% vat on education, come out one and all, we can do it in unity"NO TO 14% VAT.

Education is key and I am looking forward for both the owners of private schools and the Government to sit down and come to mutual agreement soonest so as to ensure the future of our education is not compromise or jeopardize because of the proposed Vat. Remove the Vat and find another way apart from financial implication that will eventually be past down to the parents who are struggling already to meet the current demand on those fees.
