Students for Education on AAPI Hate
Asian-Americans should feel represented, recognized, and safe in their school communities.
If ESUMS advocates for diversity and recognizes the xenophobia that the Asian community has faced not only since the beginning of 2020 but for centuries living in this nation, then there must be immediate action to educate all ESUMS students on the racial hate crimes terrorizing the Asian-American community.
It is quite alarming that mainstream media has only recently reported these racially targeted crimes; however, this only strengthens ESUMS's obligation, as an institution that prides itself in diversity and inclusion in STEM, to support our Asian-American students now more than ever.
This petition advocates for more discussion on AAPI hate crimes at ESUMS whether via an optional webinar, open discussion in classrooms, or sharing resources with faculty and students. Please sign this petition to show your support for the Asian-American community, which could very well be your own peers, classmates, and teachers!
