Education is a fundamental right, not a privilege afforded to the wealthy or the desirable. Today we spend more money (34 billion) building prisons than providing quality learning environments to citizens. A change is needed. This change will not come by us idly waiting but by our voices ringing through the halls of congress. No more will we accept the mediocre and minute justifications. No more shall we settle for the scraps thrown to us. I implore you to stand with me and exercise the power we wield by holding our employees in congress who we pay to represent us accountable. The right to learn and free ourselves from the shackles of our immediate settings shouldn't be a burden but goal that every man, woman and child is given every opportunity to not only better themselves but to better us as a nation. To liberate ourselves from our biases and move forward with understanding, knowledge and a open mind and a open heart to better our world.
