Virtual school is great for some, but not for all. Please allow in-person learning to still be an option!

My child has been in child care since the COVID-19 craziness began. She has been perfectly safe & continued to exceed her development milestones. As her parents, we don't want her to start her public school educational career ONLINE!!! If parents want virtual b/c they feel it's best, then they have the option. It is unfair to take away our choice to have our child educated in person!!!

Virtual Academy is available for those wanting remote instruction. All others should be offered in person instruction!

It was interesting,, and a bit disturbing, that Wake County offered an easy way to indicate a desire for. ‘online virtual learning’ but did not provide a way to vote for ‘in-school’ classrooms. Thank you for starting this petition. If teachers keep a 6 foot distance and wear a mask, I believe their risk is very low. And, my child is not high risk and deserves in-school instruction. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and after reviewing many statistics and articles, I believe in school instruction is the right path.

For those who prefer to have their children do remote learning, they have the OPTION to do that through virtual academy. Teachers also have the OPTION to teach through VA. For those of us whose students NEED in-person instruction for their development (as well as dual income or single-parent families) we pay taxes for the right to have our children IN SCHOOL. I am yet to hear Wake Co. say we’re going to get a refund on taxes to be able to pay for private assistance that will be required for those of us who can’t be home to facilitate learning for our elementary students. The American Academy of Pediatrics, local pediatricians, and our very own NC Secretary of Health have said that children NEED to be in school and that it’s SAFE for them to do so. If you won’t listen to parents, listen to medical professionals.
