Why the sudden change? It's been good during the second week of July since forever. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. This choice literally benefits no one.

@Sabah- Agreed. The fact remains that students & parents do not have an issue with graduation being held on the day of Eid, but with the school board has the thought that the graduation ceremonies being held on the days of Eid would be problematic to families observing the holiday, which is not the case. Problematic would rushing to get home in time to break our fasts, while we should be enjoying the rest of our nights with family and friends after the commencement. One of the biggest days of our lives, & it should be spent swiftly.
The issue of conduction graduation on the 6th, 7th, and 8th of June 2018, is a big concern to the Arab American students, and I see why it would be. First off, having to fast nearly 17 hours is tough as is. Now, having to fast on one of the most special days in your life would be even more tough because having to sit in the sun for hours waiting for the commencement to end is torturing. Secondly, it’s not all about the students here, it’s also about the families who will be attending to share that special day with their loved ones. Not only are the students facing long hours of dehydration but their families as well. By the time the commencement is over, families will have to rush home to be able to break their fasts on time, some of which go to the mosque to break their fasts. Last but not least, many students are okay with the consequence of having to go to school for another week if that should be the case of not having graduation during Ramadan. Therefore, if students are okay with it, then let it be, and reward them with what they’ve earned with a big smile on their faces. Besides, there is no harm done whatsoever to the students/families/admins if the commencement falls on a day of Eid; better to receive positive feedback than negative :) please do take the change of dates into consideration, that’s the least you could do. Thank you!

To be honest you guys should not even make a petition!!!!! You guys should know that u can’t have a graduation party during Ramadan no one will have fun and it’s a once in a life time when u graduate it should be a day to remember!!!!!

It would suck to imagine an event on Eid other than Eid, that's like having graduation on Christmas. But sometimes we must sacrifice for the better option.
