Save Edison Post Office

The Miami Area Local American Postal Workers Union which represents Clerks, Maintenance and Motor Vehicle employees in the MIami, Miami Beach, Hialeah, Homestead, South Florida, and Boca Raton areas would like to speak to you today about the closing of the Edison Station located at 760 NW 62 Street, Miami, Florida. First, it is important to note that the Postal Service does not rely on tax revenue to perform its operations. In other words, your hard earned dollars do not subsidize Postal Service functions. All the while, we interact with the American Public on a daily basis, providing extraordinary service at a reasonable price. The Postal Service plans on closing hundreds of post offices nationwide. While APWU is concerned with protecting our members jobs, we are similarly concerned with the quality of service we provide our community. The USPS plans will deprive residents of easy access to crucial services. Closing the Edison station would create hardships-especially for senior citizens, those with handicaps and our neighbors who rely on public transporation. Area businesses would suffer too. To stop the closing we need more citizens and community leaders to maker their voices heard. Your signature below attest that you believe the Edison Post Office provides a valuable service to the community and should remain open.
