Concord Elementary will be moving from 6 to 5 sections for the 2009/2010 school year for the 3rd Grade Class. Every year the school struggles to address the class size issue with this particular group of students. The resulting change will result in 4 sections of 26 students and 1 section of 27 students.
Based upon discussions with surrounding metro districts on the upcoming school year for 3rd grade classes, Concord's class size will be between 2-4 students higher than surrounding metro districts. There is general concern around the disparity between other districts and the continuing struggle to manage the size of this class. We would like to address this issue immediately for the 2009/2010 school year by adding another section or adding sufficient para support to meet the core educational needs of the students and their parents.

My son is in this grade and the classrooms are already way too crowded. 27 kids in a small room is impossible for one teacher to handle effectively.
