We, the undersigned, urge Houston and Harris County leaders to support the original location of the new Dynamo stadium in East Downtown (EaDo) as opposed to the recently announced site at the corner of S. Rice and Westpark. The central EaDo location is near major freeway arteries that flow north, south, east and west allowing easy access for fans from all areas of Houston and Harris County. In contrast, the S. Rice/Westpark location does not provide easy points of access or mobility as it is grid-locked by one of the most congested highway intersections in the United States. As a result of the access and mobility issues surrounding the area, we believe the proposed S. Rice/Westpark location would have a negative impact to the residential neighborhoods that are in proximity to the location. While a new stadium at the central EaDo location could mean a significant infusion of development dollars into the EaDo district that could result in a positive economic impact for the area.
