We hit one thousand signatures today. It has been a long road fighting to keep the Dome standing and my eyes are heavy but I am not stopping now.

The grind to reach one thousand signatures feels heavier than I expected but the history of the Astrodome deserves this fight. Please help push us over this current threshold so we have the leverage we need when we finally sit down with the commission.

Reaching our first hundred names is proving to be a difficult climb. I am drained by the constant push but we must get this in front of the Commissioners before they decide the fate of our stadium. Please help us cross this threshold so we can show them the strength of our resolve.

repurpose this monument of houston history. anything it turns into will rack in money. bring the city together. please.
My hope is that petitions like this will spur preservationist groups such as the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance and others as well as preservation-minded Houstonians toward a wider-inclusiveness of all Houstonians and that it represents a clear clarion call across Houston that the historic preservation of our cultural icons is everyone's business and concern, not just those few who more vocally advocate for it. I hope this is a first step in a new awareness and effort to support that awareness.
growing up in the 70s the dome was everything to us. cant believe they would just scrap it like trash. keep it standing!
PLEASE DONT DESTROY IT. Houston needs to hold onto its history for once. make it a museum or a park just dont knock it down.
Save the Astrodome, re-build our history!

It would be a big mistake to tear down. Houston beloved dome.
Robert Hammond is one of the 2 men responsible for saving and turning the High Line in NYC into a park and tourist attraction. It is projected to earn the city much more in property tax revenue than originally thought. Please use this and other inspiring and successful projects to refurbish the Astrodome.
God bless!

I am not even a sports fan but I am a native Houstonian, circa 1948. I remember fondly and proudly when the very first domed stadium came up out of the ground in the middle of a pasture. The Astrodome put Houston on the World map. People still travel here to see "The Eight Wonder of the World". Not to see Reliant Stadium as it is "just another stadium" (as the "Blow it up" crowd refers to the Dome. I am not criticizing Reliant Stadium but making a point of importance. I am very much interested in doing what I can to help preserve the Astrodome.
