#East of the River Schools Matter

I'm against that we are loosing money

It breaks my heart that East of the River Schools are losing so much funding considering the needs of the students and families that attend these schools. We must do better! #eastoftheriverschoolsmatter

I am on board attended at High School East of The River Spingarn (Closed).

Shame on you for trying to starve public schools in the poorest (and blackest) area of town so that your wealthy campaign donors can pick carrion off the hopes of poor mothers in our city. You're no different than crony capiltalist republicans. Try investing $1.4 million in Ward 8 with wrap around services and comprehensive child rearing classes and family planning and psychological care instead?

All Schools Matter!!!!

We need to make sure that the funds we are spending are going directly to our students in the schools.

With a $2.4 billion budget surplus, DC needs to take care of these schools!

All students should truly have the opportunity to receive a truly quality education. Cutting use gets in the most vulnerable areas surely undercuts their ability and opportunity to receive quality education.

Although DC’s General Fund balance has grown to $2.4 billion in 2016 and is now at a record high. DC public schools has a budget of almost $900 million dollars each year. It is outrageous that any public school in the District of Columbia should be losing funds. The city claims that it is unable to fund retro-active pay for teachers who have continued to work under some of the most challenging circumstances for five years without a contract or cost of living increases. Saving surplus funds should not be DC’s only priority when the city needs to adequately fund its schools to prevent local school budget cuts, build new affordable housing, preserve affordable housing that needs repairs, build or renovate its schools, set up a computer system for paid family and medical leave and pay its teachers for working six years without cost of living increases in one of the most expensive cities in the nation.

All DC Public Schools need equal funding.

I'd like to see an equitable distribution of school funding per student and break out budget line items for building improvements/renovations as that may skew the distribution.

This is ridiculous. We need to find out what their plans are for each schools, that will tell us why funding allocations are so different.
