It is highly disheartening to see the inequity of funding for Fiscal Year 2018 within The District of Columbia Public Schools. Below, is a list of initial high school funding allocations for the upcoming school year: • Ballou -637.4K • Anacostia -460.4K • Eastern -446.7K • Woodrow Wilson -340.4K • Woodson -262.2K • Roosevelt STAY -190.6 • Washington Metropolitan -180K • Luke Moore Alternative -180.9K • Ballou STAY -178.5K • Dunbar -131.9K • McKinley -87.3K • Phelps -6.3K • School Without Walls -2.6K • Banneker +200.3K • Coolidge +228.9K • Ellington +620K • Ron Brown +700.3K • Roosevelt +773.9K Although the city touts a $2.4 billion budget surplus, equalized distribution of public school funding is not deemed as a necessity. It is with extreme displeasure to see the “East of the River” high schools become the recipients of the largest budget cuts.
