This is a bunch of crap, how can they add that much on the book bill without having a meeting with us parents and letting us Decide what we would want to do!! After all it's our money and our kids!!

I was flabbergasted when I opened my school fee envelope and noticed the high fee for my freshman son! I have not been in favor of the iPads to begin with when the school started using them years ago and now this! So many times I want to help my kids study for a test and they tell me the information is on their iPad so it makes it difficult for me to help them. I just want a textbook to look through pages and help them. My son is an A student which I'm sure he is helping the school get a 4 star rating becuz of his academics and he got a C- on his math test this week and he said it's becuz it's hard to do graphing on the iPad. If parents are sending their kids to public school then the parents need notified what the school wants to propose regarding iPads. Thank you

I asked at the registration why I didn't have the $30 insurance fee to pay and I was told it would be on the book bill. NOT ONE person mentioned it was now $130. I am not paying, my daughter is turning in her ipad. They are pieces of junk anyway. It never works, downloads cause her to lose her work and she doesn't dare take it to the tech department because they just reset it and lose all her work. Even if she saves it to the cloud, she can never find it again. These expensive toys are useless. They do not teach the kids what they need to know in the real world. In the real world we use Office products. They don't run on the ipad. Just get the kids who don't have laptops a laptop and be done with it. Most of the kids around here do have their own laptops, and we can just buy the rest of them one for what we are spending on the ipads. I imagine a creative person would be able to strike a pretty good deal with Best Buy to get some decent laptops for a very reasonable price.

They put it in the summer newsletter, really? Who reads the summer newsletters? They wasted millions of dollars (my tax dollars) on these things and now they need even more money. No way. I asked at registration why we didn't have to pay the $30 insurance fee and I was told that it would be on the book bill. NO ONE mentioned it was now $130.

Communication on iPad increase should have happened

The fees associated with EACS are out of control and with the costs of technology constantly falling, there is no reason for this. Kids can use home computers! This should not be mandated.

Parents with computers at home, should be able to decline these. They do no actual school assignments on the I pad as far as I can see.

Parents these days BOTH have to work just to get bills paid and food on the table. This charge is unfair and is an extra burden on them and yet they don't want their child to get behind in school. Parents are between a rock and a hard place and I repeat THIS CHARGE IS NOT FAIR.

My wife said she was made aware of the fee at registration at Leo. However, this fee is ridiculous. If the board is going to charge parents this much, then we should get rid of the iPads.

Shame on eacs. All about the money. I remember when they first introduced the ipads one of their selling points as they shoved them down are throats was that they said school fees would go down. My fees for one child is almost 400 bucks!! Just got the bill and it's due the 25th. Bs

They post the information on websites, that parents don't go to on a regular bases, or at all. This process of "informing parents", is sketchy at best, and down right sneaky! This should have come home with our children in the form of a letter! This has potential added cost, if it is passed, of $1,179 for my to two students in the EACS system. We already are faced with book fees, for non-existing books. I have had the pleasure of teaching algebra to my oldest, and now I get that same pleasure with my youngest, that is now in the 7th grade. Because the teachers aren't doing there jobs. The tell the students to take notes in a "special notebook", and then tell them that it has to stay in the classroom. Where is the logic! If you are taking a vote, my vote is NO to the increase!!

Maybe it is time for new school board members and administration. Raising taxes already for Astro turf and now this.

The kids don't use these iPads. Games, pictures, and texting. No school work. I don't want these devices. I think that SHOULD be our choice.

This is 4 times more than normal. It's outrageous, and there is no way we will be able to afford that, on top of the ridiculous book fees we already pay.

The parents of students should have been informed of the changes in the fee before school started.

4 yrs * $131 = $524 for an iPad he will not get to keep. $599 for an iPad with Apple Care that he gets to keep. *Taken From the iPad agreement Full Replacement cost for iPad and Case iPad Air 2 (64GB) $399.00 Case $26.00 We are being charged more for an iPad than their cost of purchase. My son brings nothing of value home from this device and has free reign to download games and surf the internet from a device that I now have to monitor usage on with no option to opt out. I have checked and he does very little school work on this device and there are very few limitations in place on the devices.

I was very upset to see this fee added without any notice. What a huge burden on families.
