I do not feel it is right that we are paying for books that are outdated and fees for something that we as parents are already supplying, and our kids are not even able to use or bring the books home, much less are they even a valid asset to their education. We should be paying for either the books or the iPad, both is not fair!!!!...We are paying for books that are not being utilized for our kids education. We are paying for supplies that do not further any use to our kids during school. I was completely disappointed and embarrassed by our school board!!! Their dismissal to our concerns and to any ideas that we as parents believe will benefit the future our kids. This is an Election Year, I think its time we find new representatives to really do what we as parents feel is in the best interest of our kids, community and schools. Lets make some changes !!!! November 8th..

We got the big blow off. Of course they are not going to do anything. The usual dribble from our arrogant school board members. I believe the bigger problem right now it their plan to mortgage Leo High School and New Haven High School. Does anyone know the name of the lady who spoke first, during the open part for agenda items. I would like to contact her.

We were not consulted on the purchase of Apple Care. With a cost more than 300% of the original fee, this is not right. Even if I were to pay the $100 fee for Apple Care, what is the additional $31 for? I'll provide my child with an iPad for school and I'll keep the $131/year/child.

The message given over a text or voice mail from the Superintendent stating he apologizing for poor communication, does not replace the lace of responsibility. They did not inform parents before, it was not on the web site as they are trying to say, and no one and I mean No parent was informed, prior to this bill. We were not allowed to even registrar prior to a certain period of time, We were not give the choice for the Apple program therefore I do not belief we should be responsible for the cost. After all if I chose to do something for the school, does that mean the school is responsible for reimbursing me!! I think not. I do not believe it is fair to charge some one for something they had no input , say or responsibility for.

I was taken completely off guard when I opened my son's school fee from EACS. This is absolutely ridiculuous. I was totally against the IPADS to begin with years ago when they started using them. Just the other night my 6th grader spent one hour doing homework on the IPAD and something happened and it deleted the whole thing. I want textbooks back so I can help my kids study for tests. Why aren't we teaching cursive so my kids can read their birthday card from their grandparents that wrote in cursive. With spellcheck, the IPADS definitely aren't helping our kids learn how to spell that's for sure. I am so against the IPADS and while paying $30 was a stretch for us since it wasn't something my husband and I were okay with at the very beginning, I am definitely not paying this high fee.

The EACS statement regarding being financially responsible to parents and taxpayers is a joke!! Not allowing parents or taxpayers to vote on the 89 million dollar referendum or informing parents of book fee increase is a perfect example of transparency. I'll be at the meeting!!!

To charge parents for insurance that may or may not be used, is a ridiculous overreach. If an ipad is damaged during the course of the year, then charge the parents of the student for the repairs. This has been done over the past years. Don't bill everyone in advance. If my student does not damage the ipad, does that mean that I will receive a refund of the insurance fee? You know better!

Over $800 in fees w/4 kids. We came from Arizona no rental fees for books. We will be there November 1st

Not only do I agree with Amanda Dowell, I inquired multiple times at registration and at ever station that you have to visit and was repetitively told you will be informed,No one would tell us the new fee or charges, Not only did the insurance raise from 30.00 to 50.00 This rental is new,, we were not charged these fees previously. Why are we as parents charged this fee when these Ipads were given to the school with meaningful use attached ,there by the school is getting supported financially and then trying to charge the parents as well.?/ Is that not double dipping and Illegal?? I would like to see the contract and requirements for the school that allows them to charge the parents. Is not the insurance cover more than enough expense for these free devices that they received??

This is just another example of poor leadership from our school board and administrators. We were also told that book fees would be gone when we were told we had to use the iPads, the worst addition to our children's education.

I never wanted my kids to have ipads anyway. I have been charged twice for a scratch on an ipad $90x2 so $180 for damage. I have 4 children. And we are a one incone family. I don't know how people can afford this cause I certainly cannot!!
