I have seen many vehicles run the stop sign coming off the expressway where pedestrians are trying to cross to and from the playground and surrounding area.

If dot is keeping exit 5 need to put multiple speed bumps on the exit up until the stop sign...the stop sign should be replaced with a traffic light (sorry Not Sorry)...and the speed limit w/speed cameras on E 5th should be 5mph from Greenwood to Caton
As this area is residential with playground and park, library and a school area...this should not be an alternate highway...I’ve seen too many cars hitting pedestrians and or almost hitting pedestrians...also the illegal reversing of cars from E 5th St onto Greenwood ave also is a problem...
I 100% agree with the petition
As this exit should not exist as it was not meant to be

Our City Councilman- Brad Lander, as well as the leadership of the Community Board, should be meeting with the Mayor’s Office to demand that the Mayor instruct all city agency heads to reiterate that all of their drivers (Sanitation, MTA Bus, etc.) MUST obey the rules of the road. Harsh disciplinary action must be taken from the first violation.
In addition, the same complaints in this petition about non-passenger vehicular traffic on Ocena Parkway from Caton Ave. to Park Circle. Often, busses, garbage trucks, etc. are using this road when not performing their duties. In addition, commercial trucks not making local deliveries use this route creating a dangerous situation for both pedestrians and legally parked vehicles.

I am terrified for the most parts when cars are speeding on that narrow residential street. This petition addresses all my concerns. Thank you.

I'm terrified crossing the street by the exit ramp with my 3 year old son to go to the playground. Cars are CONSTANTLY running the stop sign off the exit. On top of that, cars frequently go through the stop and then BACK UP going the wrong direction to make the turn onto Greenwood. I'm turning my head like the exorcist just to make sure it's ok to cross safely despite having the crosswalk and right of way. If you sit in the pizza shop and watch for even 10 minutes you'd see multiple violations of each of these things in that given time.

In addition to all the above, when there’s a lot of traffic on East 5th, cars coming off the exit 5 ramp frequently back up the wrong through the intersection at Greenwood - I’ve seen cars not look and nearly run over a kid in a stroller. There are so many children in this area and this exit is a constant threat.

Cars (and banned trucks) come flying off Exit 5 and there are almost always parents with small children crossing E 5th right at the base of the exit ramp, heading for Greenwood Playground. It's a tragedy waiting to happen.
Additionally, our bedroom windows overlook E 5th, and it's hard to overestimate the noise large trucks make when they hit the speed bump in front of our house going far too fast. Usually it's in the middle of the night, as they're private garbage companies.

I support this petition. There are too many trucks speedy down E. 5th street who insensantly honk their horns at all hours of the night. This is a great neighborhood filled with working professionals who need a good nights sleep to help them get through the day. The safety of all residents should be paramount. This needs to be addressed.
